ASU Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra “Soundscapes in Motion”

Soundscapes in Motion brings together the ASU Symphony Orchestra and ASU Wind Ensemble for a program of sweeping drama, emotional depth, and sonic exploration. The Wind Ensemble, joined by ASU faculty pianist Andrew Campbell, performs James David's driving Pulsing Onward and David Maslanka’s expansive Symphony No. 7. The Symphony Orchestra brings to life some of the most vivid and iconic scenes from Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet, capturing moments of tenderness, tension, and triumph.

America 250 at Glendale Main Library

Celebrate the rich and evolving tapestry of American music with America 250, a concert series honoring the diverse voices and stories that have shaped the nation’s artistic legacy. In this compelling program, the Driftwood Quintet brings together a vibrant selection of works that reflect the spirit, struggle, and beauty of America across generations.
The performance features composers Scott Joplin and William Grant Still, showcasing music that blends classical form with African American folk traditions to tell a story of empowerment and community. It also features the music of Amy Beach, one of America’s first prominent female composers and “Ritmo Indio” by Louis W. Ballard, which celebrates Native American musical heritage through rhythm and color. The final featured piece, written by living composer Valerie Coleman, is “Portraits of Josephine”: a vibrant tribute to the legendary Josephine Baker, full of energy, elegance, and cultural resonance.

The Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts is more than a design and arts college. It’s a creative city, populated by more than 9,000 artists, designers, scholars — working, teaching and learning together. Herberger Institute Day launched in 2017 to bring together the students, faculty and staff of the Institute’s schools and art museum for a day of creative exploration and conversation. All Herberger Institute students, faculty and staff are invited to join us on Thursday, March 26 at the Nelson Fine Arts Center plaza for Herberger Institute Day 2026. We will host a variety of student performances and interactive activities at the Nelson Fine Arts Center plaza. Arrive when you can and stay as long as you'd like. And be sure to also check out the indoor activities in our nearby buildings. Light snacks and beverages will be available for registered attendees, while supplies last.

ASU Music Theatre and Opera presents “Flight”

Jonathan Dove’s contemporary masterpiece follows the story of The Refugee, inspired by the real-life story of an Iranian refugee who lived in Charles De Gaulle Airport for 18 years, whose story unfolds around a diverse group of travelers. When a storm grounds all flights overnight, he observes romances ignite, relationships unravel, and lives shift under the watchful eye of the mysterious Controller. Dove’s lush and rhythmic score blends laugh-out-loud scenarios, touching human stories with deeply moving and playful musical themes. Flight invites audiences to reflect on how we interact with those around us and how we manage those interactions in moments of crisis.

Phoenix based Driftwood Quintet and Sean Avery Medlin release "ECHOES EP", a collection of poetry written by Sean Avery Medlin with original chamber music accompaniment by Kevin E Kerr and Driftwood Quintet's own bassoonist, Benjamin Paley. The poetry deals with a variety of themes from black masculinity, media (mis)representation, and personal narrative. Sean Avery Medlin's colorful and evocative lyrics are matched by Driftwood Quintet's curatorial creativity and precise performances.

This suite of 8 tangos by Astor Piazzolla depicts an angel’s journey to save a small town in Buenos Aires and a demon's brash attempt to stop it. Piazzolla perfectly blends elements of classical, jazz and Argentinian music to showcase the tango's flirtatious rhythms and delicate nuances that will take your breath away.
